Technical verification

Before each event, the vehicle is subject to a technical inspection. During the so-called scrutineering, the design of the racing car and all parts are tested for their compliance with the rules. If this is passed, the car is put on the tilt-table test setup. Here the car is tilted by 45°, whereby no liquids are allowed to leak. At an inclination of 60°, liquids may leak out, but the vehicle must not tip over.

The first test in which the car is driven is the Brake test. While the vehicle brakes from a certain speed, all tires must block. In addition, a noise test is carried out on the vehicle in which no more than 110 dB (A) may be measured at the exhaust end at the specified piston speed (and depending on the stroke of different speeds). Once the race car has passed all these tests, it is officially admitted to the dynamic disciplines.

In the static and dynamic disciplines, the best or fastest team gets the maximum possible score. The teams placed behind them then receive a number of points corresponding to their performance, whereby the ratio to the best-placed team is decisive.

Static disciplines

Engineering Design

The Engineering Design Event is about the construction of the racing car and the sophistication of the engineering achievements. This includes the use of new materials and the latest technologies. These are then presented in the "Design Report" and presented to the jury at the car.

Maximum achievable score: 150 points 150 Punkte

Cost Analysis

All parts installed on the race car - whether self-made or commissioned - produce costs. Converted to a small series of 3000 vehicles, these must be disclosed in the "Cost Report". In a discussion, the jurors assess the cost awareness of the team with regard to the built vehicle.

Maximum achievable score: 100 points

Business Presentation

In a ten-minute presentation, an attempt is made to convince a fictitious group of investors - again represented by jurors - of the construction of the racing car in a small series. In this presentation the business plan of the team is presented and the questions of the jury are answered.

Maximum achievable score: 75 points

Dynamic Disciplines

Skid-Pad

At the Skid Pad the track has the shape of an 8. Both circles, with a diameter of 15.25 m, are traversed twice in one direction. Each team is allowed to provide two riders, each with two attempts. The fastest time from all tests is evaluated.

The fastest team gets 50 points

Acceleration

The race car is accelerated from a standstill over a distance of 75 m. Here each team is allowed to send 2 riders with 2 attempts each to the start. The fastest time from all attempts counts here as well. Strecke von 75 m aus dem Stand heraus beschleunigt. Auch hier darf jedes Team 2 Fahrer mit je 2 Versuchen an den Start schicken. Die schnellste Zeit aus allen Versuchen zählt auch hier.

The fastest team gets 75 points

Autocross

On a 900 m long course the handling of the vehicle is tested. The route consists of straight lines, slalom sections and, in addition to normal curves, also some hairpin curves. Here not only the sheer performance counts, but the whole tuning of the car must be right. This discipline is probably the most demanding task for drivers, as you only have two attempts per driver to find a good line with cold tires. The driver must know the grip level of his vehicle well in order to experience fast times here. In this discipline, the first round is counted immediately as a scoring round.

The fastest team gets 150 points

Endurance

Endurance usually involves a slightly modified course of autocross. A total distance of 22 km has to be covered. After 11 km a driver change takes place, for which the team has 3 min time. During the race, there are up to 5 vehicles on the track, but they do not drive a position race, but try to achieve the best overall time. If a faster car hits a slower one, the slower vehicle is routed into an overtaking zone and is allowed to continue immediately after the overtaking manoeuvre.

The fastest team gets 300 points

Fuel Efficency

The most efficient team gets 100 points

Das effizienteste Team bekommt 100 Punkte.

Total points

At the end of the event, all points are added together to form a total score. A total of 1000 points can be achieved. The placement takes place according to the number of points.
